Teddington Auctions LTD (TA) Sellers Principal Terms and Conditions

  1. Sellers must complete a seller’s declaration form before items (lots) can be accepted by TA for sale at the auction.

  2. Sellers must confirm that they are the sole owner of all lots presented by them or are authorised by the owners of the items to present them for sale.

  3. Sellers will be required to bring their items to Elleray Hall at the time and date (known as the lotting time) as advertised on the TA website. This enables TA to confirm the suitability of their items for the auction and for estimates and reserves to be agreed. Items accepted will then be stored by TA Ltd prior to the auction in order to take lotting photographs for the on-line catalogue (if in doubt about the suitability of items for the auction, potential sellers are advised to view the FAQs information on the TA website or contact TA beforehand by email or telephone).

  4. All goods entered into the sale are done so at the seller’s own risk. TA are not liable for any damage or loss to the seller’s items while in TA’s possession.

  5. Estimated selling prices are for guidance only and should not be regarded as the true guide to the actual sale price realised

  6. The auctioneer will have the discretion to sell at 10% below the reserve unless a fixed reserve is specifically agreed with TA.

  7. Where no reserve is given, the auctioneers reserve the right to sell the item at their discretion to the highest bidder or at a price the auctioneer sees fit.

  8. Every item lotted will be subject to a lotting fee of £1. In addition, for every lot sold, sellers shall pay a commission rate of 12% of the hammer price. No VAT is payable.

  9. The seller will be paid by cheque. Cheques will normally be sent out within 2 weeks of the sale. Payment will not be made until the goods have been paid for.

  10. If an item is withdrawn from the auction after the catalogue has been produced, TA reserves the right to charge the normal sale commission on the lower estimated price.

  11. All unsold items must be collected at the end of the auction. Where the seller fails to provide new instructions or collect the item, TA reserve the right to sell or dispose of such items at the expense of the seller. It is the responsibility of the seller to contact TA with regard to any possible unsold items.

  12. If any lot is an asset of the seller’s business the seller must notify the auctioneers whether he is registered for VAT and, if so, give his VAT registered number or if he intends to operate the VAT Used Goods Scheme.
